2023-Fall Break

River Oaks Church - Updated 2023

  • Updated software on all 14+ Node-RED Instances
  • Updated all software on server Raspberry Pis
  • Upgraded the Maintenance building to 10Gbps fiber (Previously was 1Gbps)
  • Upgraded Bitfocus Companion instances (Primary and Video booth) to newer version
  • Fixed network cabling for Elkhart lighting
  • Fixed VPN configurations between campus buildings to support additional subnet ranges
  • Fixed firewall rules that accidentally gave Guests access to the virtual machine network.
  • Added SSD Storage to the server for improved virtual machine speeds.
  • Added more automated logs (specifically for VM backups, wifi password changes, etc.)
  • Ran an ethernet cable and mounted the Dark Room access point.
  • Installed PoE Hat on Raspberry Pi at Elkhart.

  • Tested Network based IP phones at Elkhart.
  • Configured an instance of Bitwarden.
  • Configured backups to happen every Saturday
  • Encrypted disk for secured passwords
  • Set it up to require authentication via Yubikey while connecting via ssh
  • Ran cable to Camera location at Elkhart basement
  • Revamped WiFi form and system (Added extra database parameters to support more information stored, created the option to have MAC address based accounts for devices that don’t support WPA2/3 Enterprise)
  • Created a portal for tech services to manage WiFi, VPN access, Tech logs, etc.
  • Deactivated old logging site.
  • Backed up internal tech databases such as the log database, wifi user database, etc.
  • Revoked VPN access to unused devices and connections (Previously had a lot of unused devices, exposing vulnerable options to connect via VPN)
  • Worked with Planning Center API Developers on being able to grab info from our Planning Center instance.
